Posted by Cletus P. Stillwater, Jr. On November - 22 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

I cant believe it but it only week 12 and we are talking playoffs, PLAYOFFS! The NFC already has playoff implications. Vince Young’s “Dream Team” is curiously absent.

The AFC is yet to be decided. Not even golden boy Tom Brady’s New England Patriots have clinched a spot yet. As for the foot freak’s New York Jets? Superbowl bound? Not so much I think. Here is the 2011 NFL Playoff hunt as it looks today.  Read the rest of this entry »

Our Week 12 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. It’s Thanksgiving week, so we have three games on Thursday this week. Make sure you get your picks in prior to the kickoff of the FIRST game on Thursday if you want credit for the three Thanksgiving games. Voting will stay open until Sunday, but you won’t get credit for the Thursday games if you enter after 12:30pm EST.

The Week 11 “Beat the House” recap is below. As you can see, it only took one game for the House to emerge victorious in week 11. It was the House pick of the Miami Dolphins beating the Buffalo Bills that the membership didn’t like. How’d that work out for ya? The Fins kicked the snot out of the Bills extending Buffalo’s skid to 3 losses in a row.

The Jacksonville over Cleveland pick finished just a smidge on the agree side. Had a few more members disagreed, we would have had a push in week 11. Instead, the House bested the members for the third time this season.

The final tallies for week 11 and the updated season stats are:

* The House Madden Sim Members
Week 11: 10-4 10-4 9-5
2011 Overall: 91-69 93-67 104.5-55.5

The overall tally in 2011 now is Members 6, House 3, Madden NFL Sim 2.

Votes are already pouring in for week 12 so make sure you enter yours before the final deadline… kickoff of the 1:00pm EST games on Sunday, but any entries received after the Thursday game starts will not get credit for the Thursday games.

Stay tuned for when we announce the results for NFL player of the week and find out of any member was able to correctly guess them and win the Jagermeister Cooler!

ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown host Chris Berman and analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, and Keyshawn Johnson previewed the NFL’s week 11 games with Suzy Kolber, analyst Merril Hoge and NFL Insiders Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen. Some excerpts:

On Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers – will they run the table?
Ditka: “Yeah they have a chance, but history says no.”
Jackson: “He (Aaron Rodgers) is throwing at an 80 percent clip. It is unheard of in the National Football League.”

More on Aaron Rodgers…
Jackson: “What you have is a quarterback who is at his best and getting better.”
Ditka: “I think he’s got good receivers, but I think he makes them so much better.”
Johnson: “He’s Peyton Manning, he’s Tom Brady, and he’s Michael Vick all rolled up in one.” Read the rest of this entry »

This is your final notice to review our expert NFL week 11 picks and predictions and to enter your own so you can win some great prizes. At this point, with only a few hours left to go in week 11 voting, there is only one being disagreed with by the members.

It looks like that will stay at one pick since there isn’t enough time to sway any of the other votes in agreement with the House. The majority of members do not believe that Miami will not be able to beat Buffalo when the Bills visit today. We shall see how that one plays out… the Dolphins are on a hot streak as Buffalo has been ice cold. Read the rest of this entry »

As the NFL season enters Week 11, there are 17 teams with a winning record – two behind the record (19 in 2008) at this point in NFL history.

“We’re getting better and better each week,” says Chicago Bears head coach LOVIE SMITH, whose team improved to 6-3 last week. “We’ve been seeing progress. We’re climbing up the standings. It’s November and this is when the teams that are really going to compete step up and play their best football. Hopefully that will be us.” Read the rest of this entry »

Our Week 11 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. The Week 10 “Beat the House” recap is below.

After a week of a full roster of 16 games, the schedule goes back to 14 games as the last four teams (Houston, Indy, New Orleans, Pittsburgh) finally get their bye week. Has that ever happened before? A gap in the bye weeks? In any case, week 11 will be the last time there is not a full 16 games being played.

As for week 10, the hot streak of the House ended as the members fared one game better, beating “the House” for the first time in four weeks. It was a bad week for picks overall, but we did have a few members make some decent pick sets with 10 and 11 out of 14 games guessed correctly. Only two members picked 11 right, but only one can win the prize pack of movies and AXE Hair products… that member is mcole, with a tie-breaking 96 wins for the season. That number places mcole in fourth overall place in the competition. Read the rest of this entry »

On Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson being deactivated for Sunday’s game after reportedly missing a team meeting…

Johnson: “Drew Rosenhaus is his agent. Drew Rosenhaus players do hold out and miss a lot of things and become disruptive.”

Carter: “Ninety nine percent of all excuses on why guys are late, they’re typically true. A hundred percent of them though aren’t unacceptable because you only have one job.” Read the rest of this entry »

The second half of the NFL season gets underway this week and the race to the playoffs is in full swing. Week 10 starts on Thursday night (8:00 PM ET, NFL Network) when the San Diego Chargers host the Oakland Raiders. Both teams are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for first place in the AFC West.

“It’s the quarterbacks in this division that ultimately will determine the winner,” says NFL Network analyst MIKE MAYOCK.

All four teams in the AFC West are separated by just one game. In fact, 11 of the 16 AFC teams are either in or within one game of first place in the division, the most such teams in a conference through Week 9 since realignment in 2002. Read the rest of this entry »

NFL Week 10 Expert Picks and Predictions and Week 9 Recap

Posted by Cletus P. Stillwater, Jr. On November - 10 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Our Week 10 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. The Week 9 “Beat the House” recap is below.

“The House” was not as successful in week 9 as he had been in the three previous weeks, but it was close. Three picks lay in disagree status heading into the weekend, but only the Miami pick went as predicted. The House pick of the Rams over the Cardinals was close… but ultimately feel the way of the members in overtime.

Miami did kick some ass though, and if the contest was decided by the differential in points scored, the house would be victorious again. Since the House was beaten, a prize pack will be awarded to our top “picker” of the week. With 10 total games correct, and 87 total correct on the year, week 9 prizes go to QUYBOB. Congrats! It was a pretty tough week to pick. Read the rest of this entry »

2K Sports has announced in a press release that the new cover athlete for MLB 2K12 will be the Detroit Tigers’ starting pitcher, Justin Verlander, who is expected to overwhelmingly win the American League Cy Young Award for 2011, with an outside chance of winning the Most Valuable Player as well. The game will be released for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation Portable – and, amazingly, the PlayStation 2.

2K Sports released an announcement trailer, but, disappointingly, the trailer only depicted Verlander in this past year’s MLB 2K11 title, rather than the unrevealed MLB 2K12. Read the rest of this entry »

ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown host Chris Berman and analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, and Keyshawn Johnson previewed the NFL’s week 9 games with Suzy Kolber, analyst Merril Hoge and NFL Insiders Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen. Some excerpts:

On the Dallas Cowboys – what is their biggest problem?
Hoge: “Are they a running team? One week. Are they a passing team? One week. In critical moments what are they? They are so inconsistent in all those phases – that’s their biggest issue right now.”
Jackson: “Romo lost the Jets game, the Lions game outright. Indirectly he loses the New England game because Coach has no confidence in him.”
Ditka: “The coach has lost confidence in the quarterback to make plays in critical situations. This is a problem.” Read the rest of this entry »

He did it again! After getting his ass whipped for five straight weeks to start the 2011 NFL season, The House went a third week in a row without getting beaten. It is the second straight week that the membership had been beaten outright.
